
Gastrointestinal Pathology
Gastrointestinal pathology is a rapidly evolving field that includes pathologic specimens from the Esophagus, GE Junction, Stomach, Small Bowel, Bile Ducts/Ampulla, Large Bowel, Rectum, and Anus. In addition, solid organs such as the liver pancreas are commonly biopsied and occasionally provide great difficulty to the interpreting non-subspecialized pathologist. We hold expertise in the diagnosis of a wide variety of GI maladies including Eosinophilic Esophagitis, GERD, Barrett’s Esophagus with and without dysplasia, Esophageal Cancers, H. Pylori Gastritis, Chemical and Drug-Induced Gastropathy, Autoimmune Gastritis, Stomach Cancers including Lymphomas, Gluten-Sensitivity Enteropathy (GSE) aka Celiac Sprue or “Sprue,” Chronic inflammation of the small bowel / peptic duodenitis, Small Bowel Cancers including Lymphomas, Microscopic Colitis (both Lymphocytic and Collagenous), Acute Self-Limited/Infectious Colitis, Drug-Induced Colitis, Ishcmic Colitis, Trauma/Prolapse changes, Inflammatory Bowel Disease (both Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis), IBS, all types of colon polys, Colorectal Cancers, Anal Condylomas and dysplastic lesions (LSIL/HSIL), as well as Anal Cancers. Our board-certified pathologists are trained specifically in Gastrointestinal (GI) Pathology and have decades of cumulative experience. In addition to primary diagnoses, we also offer consultation services on GI biopsies such as those required for Barrett’s Esophagus with Dysplasia.
